Cultural Walking Tours in Spain
Join us on one of our all-inclusive scheduled small group tours, methodically designed to let you enjoy the very distinct areas of Spain. We personally craft our trips to give you a true sense of the area in Spain that you will visit. We blend nature with culture to bring alive the beauty of the countryside, flavors of the regional cuisine, and unique customs of the local people.
Spain is a very diverse country, both geographically and culturally. In the north of Spain you will find lush green rolling hills with small coves and hidden beaches settled by the mysterious Basques. The enormous central plateau or meseta, gives vibrant Madrid the distinction of being the European capital with the highest elevation and delivers spectacular sunsets. In the South, the arid landscape is dotted with tiny white washed villages with clay tile roofs, where the Moorish influence of over 700 years is still evident in the elegant horseshoe archways and tasted in every delicious olive.

The crown jewel of Spanish walking trails, the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela began as an act of faith as Europeans crossed Spain to visit the sacred tomb of Saint James. One thousand years later, the Camino continues to draw the spiritual as well as the traveler looking to enjoy the beauty of the green rolling hills and small hamlets of northwestern Spain's Galicia. Come be part of this magical route that is very special for us - it is on the Camino where the idea for Fresco Tours was first born in 1999.
Join us as we adjust our compass to North and head to Santiago de Compostela starting from Portugal. Our neighbors to the south are closely tied to Galicia and we will get a better feel for them as we cross through the lush countryside and quiet villages. Our good friend, the yellow arrow, will keep us company as we cross over the River Miño and enter back into Spain. Our Camino takes us through the town of Padrón, where Santiago's stone boat brought him back to Spain.
Come join us on our kinder version of the Camino Portugués! We'll enjoy the same charming scenery of the Iberian Peninsula, but at a lighter, gentler pace. Our good friend, the yellow arrow, will keep us company as we cross over the River Miño and enter into Spain. Our Camino also takes us through the town of Padrón, where Santiago's stone boat brought him back to Spain.
I first walked the Camino de Santiago in 1999 and since then have led over 80 groups along the Way. Over the years, I've seen many pilgrims walk, cycle, horseback and a few wheelchairs on their way to Santiago de Compostela. While we are very proud of our high-quality, full-service, scheduled cultural walking tours of the Camino de Santiago, we also recognize that some people would rather not have a guide and there are others that just do not like "group tours", despite the fabulous gourmet picnics we prepare!
On this journey, you will cover the last 115KM of the trail on foot as you start from the town of Sarria. This will allow you to request de Compostela certificate for having walked the Camino. We will take care of your hotel arrangements, breakfasts, and luggage transfers as you go along the trail. All walking will be from inn to inn, so no need for shuttles in taxis or regrouping points.
Duration: 8 days / 7 nights
Distance: The Last 118 KMs to Santiago
On this journey, you will cover the last 118KM of the trail on foot as you start from the town of Tui (in Spain). This will allow you to request the Compostela certificate for having walked the Camino. We will take care of your hotel arrangements, breakfasts, and luggage transfers as you go along the trail. Come with us and discover this mysterious land of proud people and marked contrasts. A culture that has always been tied to the land, we get a closer look of the Basques as we stroll their lush rolling hills, wander their imposing mountains, and skirt the tides of their rocky coves. We'll get a glimpse of sophisticated cosmopolitan centers and century-removed hamlets. Have a taste of full-flavored cheeses, the freshly caught seafood, and the crisp subtle wines.
The typical image people have of Spain - the vibrant flamenco dancer in a bright-colored dress, singing in a white washed patio of a tiny village, surrounded by a sea of olive fields under a crystal blue sky - no doubt comes from Andalucia. However, there is much, much more to Andalucia! In addition, we'll explore serene garden palaces at the foot of snow-capped mountains, cool dense shaded pine forests, quiet trout river paths and magical buzzing cities…all under a crystal blue sky!
